On April 22, 2011 a Seminar for Journalists working in the field of Gender equality and GBV was organized by UNFPA CGBV. The seminar was aimed at experience sharing and capacity building for journalists from Armenian TV, radio and press media, as well as news agencies.
The seminar was organized in cooperation with the Pro-Media Gender journalistic organization that unites journalists of print and electronic media, experts and academic staff specializing in the field of gender journalism and working on promotion and popularization of ideas of gender equality and protection of rights and interests of women.
Dr. Lilit Zakaryan, Provost of the Armenian North University, professor of the Journalism Department and Ms. Tamara Hovnatanyan, Political reporter with “Nowoe Wremya” newspaper, editor-in-chief of the ”Woman & Politics” monthly newspaper were invited to provide expertise on the issue during the seminar.
Agenda of the seminar included presentation of the main activities implemented by UNFPA CGBV in 2008-2011, presentation of the results of Monitoring of the GBV coverage in Mass Media, implemented within the framework of the project and round-table discussion on “How to present the problem of GBV in Mass Media”.
More than 25 journalists form Yerevan and other marzes participated in the seminar.
