Advocacy is a powerful tool, which helps to bring political support and to facilitate political interest and will for mitigating public opinion and increasing participation of political-decision makers and leaders in the field. UNFPA CGBV project uses its Advocacy and Communication Strategy as guidelines for implementation of activities that target awareness raising on GBV among public in general and capacity development of the key political decision-makers in particular. The strategy envisages working with key decision-makers to push for necessary changes in the legal and law enforcement fields, working with mass media to leverage leaders’ and public opinions on GBV, promoting cooperation with partner agencies and organizations to build coalitions, contributing to capacity development of the national machinery on gender equality and mobilization of local communities in support of the project interventions (trainings, information meeting, events, campaigns) that tackle GBV issues.
