In Armenia, general awareness of the population on GBV is very low and the issue itself is rarely brought up and discussed in public. In view of this situation, educating population on GBV, including Domestic Violence (DV), and its consequences is considered as one of the priority areas of the work aimed at combating GBV and a necessary precondition to contribute to enabling environment for GBV reduction in the country. Target group education component of UNFPA CGBV project in Armenia is implemented by a consortium of 3 NGOs, which have a substantial work experience in the fields of human and women’s rights, gender and gender based violence issues, reproductive health and adult education as well as a positive experience of cooperation with a number of international organizations including UN agencies.
