Seminar-discussion on “Support for Victims and Successful Prosecution of Domestic Violence”
On 16-17 April, 2011 The United States Department of Justice/U.S. Embassy in Yerevan through the USDOJ Office of Prosecutorial Development, Assistance, and Training (OPDAT), in collaboration with the UNFPA Combating Gender-Based Violence in the South Caucasus Program organized a seminar-discussion on “Support for Victims and Successful Prosecution of Domestic Violence” in Tsaghkadzor.

Council of Europe adopts new Convention to prevent and combat violence against women
Strasbourg, 08.04.2011 - The Committee of Ministers adopted on 7 April the text of a new Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence.
This new landmark Council of Europe treaty is the first legally binding instrument in the world creating a comprehensive legal framework to protect women against all forms of violence, and prevent, prosecute and eliminate violence against women and domestic violence. The Convention also establishes an international mechanism to monitor its implementation at national level. The Convention which is also open to accession by non European countries will be open for signature in Istanbul on 11 May 2011 on the occasion of the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers gathering Ministers of Foreign Affairs from 47 Member States.

UNFPA CGBV presented the results of the sociological study on “Gender Dimension of Civic and Political Participation in Armenia”
On March 30, 2011, UNFPA Armenia officially presented the results of the sociological study on “Gender Dimension of Civic and Political Participation in Armenia” conducted within the framework of UNFPA “Combating Gender-Based Violence in the South Caucasus” project by the “Caucasus” Sociological Research Center” NGO.

Annual Clergy Conference Statement
On February 28 and March 1, the annual clergy conference was convened in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, on the occasion of the Feast of St. Ghevond the Priest and His Companions. Over 250 clergymen from Armenia and Artsakh dioceses participated in the sessions. The topic of discussion was "Family and the Spiritual pastor".
